Wednesday, 30 January 2019

Soon after its establishment in Italy, Goodman Group, one of the leading global groups for logistics real estate, is announcing its first major development. An agreement has been signed with a leading e-commerce company for the development of a 7,000 sqm built-to-suit logistics facility in the Rimini district. In addition, Goodman has three more projects ready to be developed in key locations.

The Rimini Logistics Centre will be developed and managed by Goodman as a state-of-the-art logistics warehouse, specifically tailored for the needs of e-commerce organizations. This modern building will feature 28 cargo bays and a range of sustainability features, such as LED lights, solar panels, e-charging stations for electric vehicles and smart measuring systems that allow to constantly monitor consumption. The building is located in a strategic position, in close proximity to the important Via Emilia road and the A14 highway and ideally suited to serve customers on the Adriatic Coast. Work will commence in March 2019 with completion estimated for August 2019.

Goodman Italy also has other important projects in its pipeline, with three landbanks totalling 212,000 sqm located in strategic locations, ready for the development of three logistics buildings.

The plots are located in different areas of the Centre-North of Italy: the largest one, 96,000 sqm, is in Reggiolo (RE), close to the regional motorway Cispadana and the A22 highway connecting Italy with Austria; the second one is a 57,000 sqm parcel in Anagni (FR), near the A1 highway and a short distance from Rome. A further 59,000 sqm plot is located in Gambolò (PV) at the crossing of five districts (Milan, Novara, Vercelli, Alessandria and Pavia), easily accessible from four different highways. All three landbanks would suit e-commerce, retail or third-party logistics customers.

Mario Costa, Country Manager Goodman in Italy commented on Goodman’s strong start, “Our business in Italy is growing fast. This is due to a market that has been strongly accelerating in the last few years, our knowledge of the local territory and our ability to find the best opportunities for our customers.

Our customers have recognised our commitment to the Italian market and appreciate our team’s strong track-record in logistics, our customer focus and flexibility.”

With 140 properties in 10 European countries, covering a total of 5 million sqm of logistics space, Goodman has established a strong presence in Europe and is the preferred supplier for many global and local companies to develop and manage high-quality industrial projects. In Italy, Goodman is scaling up fast in line with the forecast announced with the opening of the local office in March, doubling its team in the territory and working on projects that will be developed during 2019 and beyond.
