Goodman supports growth of the digital economy in Italy with the completion of two state of the art facilities

With the rapid acceleration of the digital economy, Goodman continues to support customers in Italy by completing two high-specification sustainable last mile developments in Pioltello and Udine. 

Pioltello Logistics Centre is a Class A facility with a gross lettable surface of approximately 10,000 square metres and has been equipped with state-of-the-art features including having the roof entirely covered by solar panels. They will produce around 470 kW, used to offset the building's energy requirements. The energy consumption will be monitored through an intelligent Building Management System (BMS) to help customers become as energy efficient as possible. Various recycled materials were used in its construction, in line with the company's strategy of optimising and reducing the use of new materials for construction. 

The centre has been equipped with 53 electric charging stations for cars and vans, with an additional 200 charging stations planned to further facilitate and encourage increasingly green deliveries.

The sustainable and environmentally friendly approach extends to greater well-being in the local community, as well as Goodman's customers employees. The municipality will benefit from an area of almost 7,000 square metres of green space and parking. A public pathway connecting the site to the Pioltello central station has also been created to facilitate access.  

With e-commerce sales in Italy expected to grow by 84% to 2025¹, the Pioltello Logistics Centre will enable deliveries to 2.5 million people in around 30 minutes² due to its prime location on the outskirts of Milan. 

In the North East of Italy, the Udine facility is located 2.7 km from the town centre. It has a footprint of 4,700 square metres with a canopy of about 930 square metres. The building was designed with energy efficiency as a top priority, as well as Pioltello Logistics Centre with rainwater collection tanks and specific materials for better insulation. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and LED lighting is controlled by a digital building management system (BMS) that ensures a comfortable working environment at the same time as reducing unnecessary energy consumption. The building is equipped with a solar implant that will produce about 90 kW.
