GreenSpace+, our commitment to giving life to the cities of the future

Wednesday, 13 July 2022

At Goodman, we not only design, build and manage efficient and sustainable properties, but we also work in tandem with local authorities to shape human-friendly cities, ready to face the challenges of the future.

We provide our customers with the space they need to succeed. However, we know that these activities can come at a great cost for the planet.

Real estate has a vital role in preserving the environment for future generations. That’s why we developed GreenSpace+, our commitment to fight against climate change and go beyond carbon neutrality.

First, we focus on developing and managing sustainable spaces that support the growth of the digital economy (infrastructure, e-commerce, …). Our warehouses are designed following internationally recognised standards in terms of the environment and workforce wellbeing. We leverage the latest materials and methodologies to provide efficient solutions that optimise resource consumption, take advantage of renewable energy, and encourage cleaner mobility.

But we know that we can do more than that. Not only at a global level, as an international group with a presence in 14 countries, but also at a local level, thanks to our dedicated teams. Therefore, we look beyond our properties and team up with NGOs, local authorities and public administrations to plan concrete initiatives for the community.

Biodiversity is a vital part of the sustainability puzzle. Hence, we partner with selected organisations to support local forestation and flora and fauna preservation.
In Italy, last year, we chose to support the Mosaico Verde campaign, a national forestation campaign promoted by Legambiente and AzzeroCO2. As part of this project, we’ve already planted 1.000 plants which will help absorb 700 tons of CO2 considering the average life of a tree (100 years). Our support for this campaign will last three years, during which we want to plant 3.000 trees.

We also believe in the importance of regenerating abandoned areas which are usually close to cities but are not fit or safe to use anymore. By giving brownfields a second life, we generate jobs and services where people live, enabling employees to go to work by foot, bike or public transport and reducing pollution, emissions, and traffic.

Our approach to sustainability is based on the belief that we can achieve great things by working together. That’s the essence of GreenSpace+: a promise always to do better and an invitation to do it together.
